Fold Lamp

From the ‘Fold’ series I have now designed The Fold Lamp. This range is an attempt to produce lighting products that are both visually interesting but low tech in their construction method. I have used a foam material called plastazote that is normally used for upholstery in aeroplanes. This material is self supporting but also acts as a light diffuser to create a beautiful ambient glow, this gives the impression that the product is made from porcelain.

The fold lamp has two sides. One side is complete and provides a consistent light source. The other side has a slit that can be altered to effect the amount of light emitted. The fold is held together by a hand lathed oak stopper.

The fold lamp is one meter tall but I have produced ones to order that are three meters high (we found that children loved playing inside them!).
